Terence Brennan: Bodhran, Djembe, Squeezebox, Spoons, Vocals
Terence's raspy vocals, thundering percussion and devotion to hardcore music are key elements to Shilelagh Law's signature style. His organizational and business skills keep the band working, and his songwriting ability lends to the overall original feel of the Law. Terence has seen it all and still, somehow, manages to smile...occasionally.
Stephen Gardner: Bass, Backing Vocals
It is an impossible task to convert into mere words what Steve brings to the band. Show after show, he mercilessly sacrifices his liver and ravages his vocal cords in order to keep Shilelagh Law's hard-drinking rock-and-roll image intact. And his contribution as comic relief cannot be overstated. In addition to all of the above, Steve lays down the smoothest bass lines since...some famous bassist (famous bassist--is that an oxymoron?).
Denis McCarthy: Fiddle, Whistle, Vocals
An Irish musician from birth, Denis lives and breathes jigs and reels. His blazing fast speed and ability to blend "The Irish Washerwoman" with "Hungry Like the Wolf" without missing a beat has made his performances a highlight of every live show. No one can get a crowd up and on their feet like Denny McCarthy...except maybe Denis' alter-ego, Richard Simmons.
Richard Popovic: Vocals, Guitar
With a last name like Popovic, it was a no-brainer for Richard to become the lead singer for an Irish pub band. Somehow he manages to pull it off while supplying a steady rhythm with his impassioned and physical guitar playing. And every now and then he even finds time to redesign and update Shilelagh Law's website.
Shilelagh Auxiliary
Kevin McCarthy: Accordion
The Big Fella. He manhandles that accordion as if it were a kazoo. Catch him on S.L.'s studio recordings, as well as at live venues with large stages, and be witness to how he somehow manages to make an enormous instrument look like a belt buckle.
Fred Ciappetta: Graphics, Road Manager
With a last name like Ciappetta, it was a no-brainer for Freddy to become involved with an Irish pub band. His graphical stylings can be seen on everything from S. L.'s album covers to their business cards. And his stylings on the dance floor can be seen late at night after many beers.
Ladies, he's out there.
John Focht: Inspiration
The other Big Fella. Without John Focht, there would be no Shilelagh Law. It's as simple as that.
